Arrived safely at the airport awaiting our flight to Baltimore where we have approximately 2.5 hour layover. Connecting flight to Nashville.
We've met many very interesting and nice individuals on our trip.
Cori - kayak instructor; in the winter he's a ski instructor in Breckenridge, CO; whitewater and kayak guide in the summer; trying decide if he's going back to finish his degree this year or guide another year
Girl at kayak stand - don't recall her name but C&R stayed near as her one yr old golden retriever Luna was loving the attention; she has spent last two seasons in Alaska as a whale tour guide and photography guide; she is from Mass. and trying to decide what the winter holds for her
Lady co-owner of the Schooner Surprise - she took her first tour to Argentina on a sailing vessel as a first mate. She said the captain hesitant to let her go....saying don't you run off with some boy when we get down there. Well she did and is still married with a four year old. They winter in Argentina and provide schooner tours in Maine in the summer.
The Captain (substitute) - I say substitute because it's usually the lady's husband from Argentina. This gentleman has known her for 30 years and fills in when her husbands races sailboats competitively as does the sub captain though he and his wife are in their mid 60's and looking to relocate further South due to the harsh winters.

Petunia's
Following sea kayak tour and dinner we crossed Main St over to Tannery Lane on our way to the free all day parking area. As we crossed a narrow walkway, a gentleman was playing Petunias in planters. JA commented saying the petunias were beautiful. He immediately responded with "you're from Tennessee!" He began to tell her about two different ladies that ran businesses in town. One from Memphis and one from Nashville. He laughingly said they think they've lost their accents but they haven't. They still have a twang.
The entire trip we've been asked where we were from or what part of the South. Been s great conversation starter. Met many very nice and interesting people.

One more night
You would think they would be tired by now. Wrestling and rolling down the hill to the coast. They couldn't resist wading ankle deep in the really coastal water.
Where the mountains meet the sea
View from Mt Battie in Camden Hills State. Tallest mountain actually on the East coast. You can see Penobscot Bay. Camden Harbor can be seen in the bottom right corner of the last pic.
Camden has a population of 3-4,000 normally but swells to 10,000 around July 4th. It is a charming town. Not as big or commercialized as Bar Harbor.

Cappy's
Lobster one more time for Ryder and JA. Ryder is becoming a lobster eating pro. Carson selected crab cakes and I lobster roll and stew with lobster and clams. Of course, with lobster comes blueberry pie. Most restaurants have a lobster special with includes this wonderful fresh dessert.
JA's a little nervous
Perfect weather, wonderful guide, a must do. Two hour sea kayak tour of Camden Harbor and around nearby island in two tandem kayaks.
View from the Inn
Strawberry Hill Seaside Inn about 5 miles South of Camden in Rockport. A deal at $106 for the night.
Strolling on Main St
Making our way back to the all day free public parking after lunch at Camden Deli. Picked up a triple choc brownie and cookies for the walk.
During our schooner tour, the co-owner said by July 4th it would sometimes take 45 mins just to drive thru downtown due to tourism and all the crosswalks. She said we hit it at a good time, early season.

Temp rising
Temps rising to upper 70's therefore it's feeling pretty warm....almost hot compared to previous days. Still a nice breeze.
$1 rent annually
The lighthouse you see requires rent of $1 annually with the agreement the family paints the house every five years and provides other maintenance. No running water, power or AC. Only reachable by boat. The family resides their in the summer. They can boat inland to the Y for showers, etc.
BeLoin's
Tried to book this place but they didn't open til Memorial Day. Found out today part of Stephen King's "Thinner" was shot here.
No longer allowed this close to the shore. Our captain today said it's so close that on a rough day the sea spray reaches the cabins.
